All 60 Kirklees participants recorded! (March 2018)
A great milestone on 6th March 2018: All 60 Kirklees participants have been recorded for Session 1 & Session 2.

We are now only looking to recruit participants from Bradford and Wakefield.

University of Huddersfield to host IAFPA 2018!

Dr Erica Gold was successful with a bid to host the 2018 International Conference for Forensic Phonetics and Acoustics at the University of Huddersfield.

The organising committee Dr Erica Gold, Katherine Earnshaw, Sula Ross & Hazel Price are all looking forward to hosting the conference.

More information about the conference can be found here: https://iafpa2018.wordpress.com/

Participant 100! (October 2017)
19th October 2017: We recorded our 100th participant!

Only 80 more to go…

2017 Conference Presentations
WYRED presented at the International Association of Forensic Phonetics (IAFPA) and UK Language Variation and Change (UKLVC) conferences in the summer of 2017. We presented some of our work on hesitation markers (filled pauses) in Croatia and introduced the database to sociolinguists and sociophoneticians in Cardiff.
Recording sessions commenced!
As 2016 draws to a close, we’re pleased to say we’ve had a very successful term. 30 participants have now completed both recording sessions and received their £25 gift voucher reward!

We’ve also been making good use of our bespoke West Yorkshire map by plotting our participant pairings across Wakefield, Kirklees and Bradford.

Pilot recordings complete!
Pilot recordings have successfully been recorded and completed. Preliminary analysis shows clean recordings. Here’s an exciting extract of one of those recordings using Praat. We love Praat.

A very important and very impressive milestone was achieved today – we officially have a door sign!

It’s official.
